PARIS
I was asked to write something romantic about Paris. That is a huge
undertaking, volumes have been written about the subject. Paris is the
most romantic city in the world. Not only is it a walking museum where
signs can be read on a building that state Racine lived here, but the
uneven street cobblestones evoke an era of yester year. You are
enveloped in an aura of a romantic past, and a very real vital, alive
presence.
That song “I love Paris” is true. I do love Paris. Let me give an example
of my idea of romance. For a contemplative romantic environment take
an early morning stroll along the Seine, before the hustle and bustle of
the vendors opening up their various shops. The book stalls along the
quais are still closed. It is quiet, and peaceful. Notre Dame is right
alongside you as you stroll holding your lover’s hand. Stop in a café and
watch the city come to life.
For those night owls, there is plenty of romance. Paris lights up at night,
it is after all called the city of lights. An intimate dinner in a bistro, a jazz
club, sitting in a café and watching the rest of the world go by, a simple
walk down any street with the right person is romantic. There is
something about the city that evokes romance, morning, noon and night.
